Senator Farnsworth Reaffirms Focus on Highway Construction, Road Repairs,

Forward-Thinking Transportation Solutions

PHOENIX, ARIZONA—Senate Appropriations and Transportation Committee Chairman David Farnsworth is reaffirming his commitment to a long-term transportation strategy that addresses both the urgent need to repair Arizona's dangerous roadways and the necessary policy work to keep Arizona at the forefront of next-generation mobility. As Arizona's population continues to grow, it places pressure on the infrastructure. Chairman Farnsworth's agenda focuses on conservative principles: practical investment, responsible innovation, and statewide connectivity.

A key element of this agenda is Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)—a category of electric aircraft, often referred to as "air taxis," which are designed to take off and land vertically without needing a runway for short regional trips. These aircraft can help alleviate traffic congestion, support emergency services, and improve access to rural communities. Chairman Farnsworth has been actively involved in legislative efforts around AAM since 2024, working to establish a thoughtful framework that encourages innovation while ensuring safety, regulatory clarity, and community benefits. Other states are already preparing for or have begun deploying AAM; for example, Archer Aviation will serve as the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Chairman Farnsworth is closely observing the expansion of autonomous ground taxis operating in parts of Arizona, which provide a valuable model for incorporating advanced technology into public infrastructure. The chairman sees this as part of a broader strategy to modernize transportation in a way that reflects Arizona's needs.

"The work begins by repairing what is broken, followed by building what comes next," said Chairman Farnsworth. "Advanced Air Mobility and autonomous vehicles are no longer concepts of the future—they are active technologies with real-world applications. My job is to ensure that Arizona stays ahead of the curve, not behind it. This means pursuing innovative yet grounded solutions that are forward-looking but fiscally responsible. I am committed to collaborating with community partners, technology leaders, and Arizonans to create a transportation system that is safer, smarter, and built for the long haul."
