Senator Farnsworth Leads Senate Education & Transportation Committee,

Aiming to Improve Arizona's Infrastructure

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Committee Chairman David Farnsworth is working to improve Arizona's transit systems, both on the ground and in the air, with a new Senate Education and Transportation Committee overseeing innovative transportation solutions.

With Arizona's rapid population growth and increasing transportation demands, Chairman Farnsworth plans to conduct a review of the state's needs and work to spearhead the future of transportation through cutting-edge air mobility infrastructure initiatives. While Arizona's freeway system ranks among the nation's best, a recent finding reveals the Grand Canyon state is home to some of the deadliest intersections in the United States. Establishing Arizona's transportation needs are of paramount concern for the committee, which include safety improvements, additional freeways, and innovative public transportation east of Power Road for San Tan Valley, Apache Junction, and East Mesa residents.

"Arizonans deserve better roads today and smarter transportation options for tomorrow," said Chairman Farnsworth. "The committee will bring together lawmakers, aviation experts, and transportation leaders to address what's broken while embracing what's next. The mobility of our citizens is my top priority, and some of our highways require urgent attention. A prime example is SR 347, connecting the City of Maricopa to the Phoenix Metro Area, which contributed to 967 crashes from 2017-2021 alone, and ranks among the most dangerous intersections in the western United States. I remain dedicated to ensuring the necessary resources collected to fund transportation improvements are actually spent on improving our roads. The longer these roadways remain untouched, the higher the number of fatal crashes we can expect to see each year. Arizonans' lives are at risk. I refuse to sit back and ignore our opportunities to improve Arizona's transportation system. Whether through new highways or groundbreaking air mobility initiatives, I look forward to the progress we can accomplish with this committee. The future of transportation in Arizona is in our hands."
