Senate Education & Transportation Committee Chairman Drives Budget Solutions

for Arizona's Transportation Needs

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Senate Education & Transportation Committee Chairman David Farnsworth is continuing efforts to improve Arizona's transit system by advocating for strategic funding allocations within the state budget for innovative transportation solutions.  

Senate Republicans announced a balanced, fiscally conservative budget on Monday, which includes $5 million dedicated to funding Chairman Farnsworth's forward-thinking infrastructure improvements, aimed at securing a viable future for Arizona commuters.

With Arizona's rapid population growth, deteriorating roadways, and increasing transportation demands, Chairman Farnsworth is charting a path towards a transportation innovation pilot program, an air mobility infrastructure plan, and the establishment of a transportation infrastructure fund.  

"Arizona's transportation needs are a statewide concern, requiring immediate attention today for a brighter and safer tomorrow," said Chairman Farnsworth. " In the state budget, I've dedicated $2 million towards spearheading the future of transportation through groundbreaking air-mobility infrastructure, making flying cars not just a fantasy, but a reality. The budget plan allots $2 million towards a transportation pilot program for innovative transportation options east of Power Road for San Tan Valley, Apache Junction, and East Mesa residents. Finally, we're contributing $1 million to establish a transportation infrastructure fund, for the purpose of addressing the urgent transportation needs requiring immediate attention to lessen the risk our citizens face on the roads. The allocations set aside in this year's state budget highlight the significance of Arizona's dire need for improvements to our dangerous roads and alternative transit options. I am pleased to see the overwhelming bipartisan support our budget received as a result after months of negotiations. The future of transportation in Arizona is in our hands, and I am thankful we were able to put forth a plan through the state budget."
