FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from Senate President Fann and Caucus on the US Senate confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett
"The United States Senate voted 52-48 tonight to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. By confirming Judge Barrett, the US Senate solidified the Court's conservative majority.
Her confirmation comes after the passing of the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was a pioneer for women and has set an incredible example. Judge Barrett will be taking her seat, and it's well deserved. Judge Barrett is strongly respected in the legal community and she has served well on the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals since 2017. She is a graduate of the Notre Dame Law School, where she also taught. Judge Barrett is a mother, a judge, a professor and a strong constitutionalist. Also, she will the fifth woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She is a well-rounded leader that will protect the American values.
We are proud of President Trump's excellent choice to represent us for many years to come. We have no doubt she will read and interpret the US Constitution as it is written.
Congratulations, Justice Barrett."
