Senate Committee on Director Nominations Continues Confirmation Hearings,

Despite Governor Hobbs' Childish Meltdown

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Senate Republicans serving on the Senate Committee for Director Nominations are issuing the following statement on today's confirmation hearing for Commissioner Robyn Sahid of the State Land Department.

"During Katie Hobbs' explosive temper tantrum at a press gaggle last week, she threatened to once again unlawfully evade the Senate confirmation process on director nominees. Thankfully for the citizens of Arizona, there wasn't any substance behind her childish declarations," said Committee Chairman Jake Hoffman. "Senate Republicans will continue to be the adults in the room and serve as the critical check and balance on the executive, as the citizens of Arizona expect of us, and as state law dictates."

"Governor Hobbs' meltdown last week was just that- a meltdown," said Senator John Kavanagh. "Despite her threats, it was business as usual today for the Senate Committee on Director Nominations as we confirmed a competent, non-partisan, qualified individual to serve as commissioner for the State Land Department. As we have proven time after time, we will thoroughly, honestly, accurately, and fairly vet each of Governor Hobbs' nominees and will approve only those candidates who show they have the best interests of Arizonans in mind."

"When a nominee shows they have experience for the job, they are not hyper-political, and they are honest with the committee, they will be recommended for confirmation," said President Pro Tempore T.J. Shope. "Robyn Sahid fit the bill today, and she should serve as an example to Governor Hobbs of the type of individuals we are looking to advance. It's not rocket science, and there is no secret formula to getting bipartisan buy-in on director nominees."
