Radical Hobbs Supports Schools Hiding Gender Pronouns from Parents,
Boys Using Girls' Restrooms
PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Governor Katie Hobbs is showing just how radical she really is after vetoing legislation requiring schools to inform parents when using pronouns opposite of a child's biological sex, as well as protecting girls' private spaces on campus from male intrusion.
"Governor Hobbs continues to defy common sense with her unwavering support for woke ideology that harms Arizona children and violates parental rights," said Senator John Kavanagh.
SB 1002, sponsored by Senator Kavanagh, would have prohibited a public-school employee from knowingly addressing a student under the age of 18 by a pronoun that differs from the one that aligns with the student's biological sex, or a first name that is not listed on the student's official school records without parental permission.
"School employees are harming the wellbeing of children by improperly assigning pronouns that do not match students' biological sex, especially those who are suffering from gender dysphoria and are under psychiatric care," said Senator Kavanagh. "Parents should determine what's best for their children, not school employees. When children are experiencing psychological turmoil, their parents deserve to know. Despite the harm being inflicted, there are public schools that continue to push the use of gender pronouns to mask psychiatric issues from parents and force progressive political agendas on Arizona's vulnerable youth population. The governor's heinous decision to veto this bill is reckless and puts children in an extremely dangerous position."
SB 1003 would have limited access to public school restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and hotel rooms on overnight school trips to students of the same biological sex. Additionally, SB 1003 would require a public school to provide access to a single-occupancy restroom or changing facility for students who don't feel comfortable using facilities that match their biological sex, while also safeguarding female-only and male-only facilities. Under this bill, individuals would reserve the right to a private cause of action if they encountered a person of the opposite sex in the specified areas at public schools.
"Governor Hobbs continues to push 'gender neutrality' as a way to win votes from her extremist liberal community at the expense of exposing vulnerable children to sexual violence, harassment, and emotional distress," said Senator Kavanagh. "A 13-year-old female should not be forced to stand next to a naked, transgender female, who is in reality an 18-year-old biological male. The fact that this bill was vetoed proves just how little Hobbs cares for the development of our youth and how radical she is for Arizona."
