Final Family Court Hearing to Feature Public Testimony,

Involvement of the Department of Child Safety

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Committee Chairman Mark Finchem is inviting parents negatively impacted by the Arizona family court system to join him at the Arizona Senate on Wednesday, August 27, at 9 a.m. to share personal testimony during the final Joint Legislative Ad Hoc Committee on Family Court Orders.

The final hearing signifies the end of the committee's statewide sessions focused on gathering information about family court orders. The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) will present to the committee alongside public testimony to provide an overview of its role in the family court process. Committee members are aiming to gather information and explore how DCS engages with court orders, custody cases, and child welfare issues. This effort will ensure that the agency's accountability is clearly defined and subject to appropriate oversight.

"The final hearing is one you won't want to miss," said Chairman Finchem. "If you have been impacted by the family court system or a judge has threatened you with a gag order, I strongly encourage you to come forward and share your story. This is your opportunity to provide fact-based testimony directly to lawmakers before the committee concludes its work. Your voices are vital in shaping the legislative reforms we will introduce next session. In addition to hearing from the public and DCS, the committee will feature a special guest who played a pivotal role in shaping federal initiatives for family court reform, offering a perspective that highlights the urgency and importance of this work. Together, with the voices of families, oversight of agencies, and guidance from national reform efforts, we will build the solutions Arizona's children and families deserve."
