Senator Vince Leach is congratulating the Northwest Fire District for an improved Public Protection Classification rating. The Insurance Service Office issues the rating, which puts the District in the top 1% in the country.
The improved score means lower insurance costs for property owners in much of the Town of Marana and unincorporated Pima County northwest of Tucson.
Senator Leach, who attended the announcement on Monday, says it is a small group of communities who can claim a Class 1 District.
"Of the more than 41,000 communities evaluated for this safety rating, just 348 earned the Class 1 rating, and one of them was Northwest Fire District," said Senator Leach. "I am proud of the work of the men and women at the Northwest Fire District, keeping our community safe."
