Senator Brophy McGee recognizes Arizona Alzheimer’s Awareness Day

Senator Kate Brophy McGee is hosting the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter today for Alzheimer's Awareness Day at the Capitol.

The Alzheimer's Association will use the morning to learn more about the legislative process and what the best practices are for working with elected officials to pass legislation. During lunch, state legislators and researchers will be presented with updates on Alzheimer’s legislation from across the country. On the floor, Senator Brophy McGee will read Senate Concurrent Resolution 1038, proclaiming February 28, 2018 as Alzheimer's Awareness Day in Arizona.

"There are more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease, and every 66 seconds someone in the United States will develop it," said Senator Brophy McGee. "It is the fourth leading cause of death in Arizona and there has been a 138% increase in Alzheimer's deaths in our state since 2000. We must continue to research this disease so we may soon discover a cure."
