Senator Finchem Announces Joint Ad Hoc Committee Hearing on Family Court System

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday, April 9, 2025

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Committee Chairman Mark Finchem is inviting parents, who have been affected by the Arizona family court system, to join him at the Arizona Senate Monday, April 14 at 10 a.m. to share their personal stories during a special Joint Legislative Ad Hoc Committee on Family Court Orders.

In response to a significant number of parents and parent advocates expressing concerns about experiences with family court proceedings, a Joint Legislative Ad Hoc Committee is being called to take public comment and expert testimony on issues related to family court proceedings and laws in Arizona. This will include, but is not limited to, court-ordered therapeutic intervention. In a series of five committee hearings, members will determine whether legislative reforms are needed to address the impact of family court orders on families and children.

"I am urging those who have been impacted by the family court system to come to the Senate and make their voices heard as part of our ongoing efforts to evaluate potential legislative solutions to safeguard families and hold government agencies and non-government agencies accountable for potentially unreasonable practices," said Chairman Finchem.
