Senator Bolick Files Major Election-Integrity Ballot Referral to Strengthen Trust in Arizona's Elections

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Senator Shawnna Bolick is taking immediate steps to secure Arizona's elections. On Saturday, she filed SCR 1001, a top priority for Senate Republicans that gives voters the power to adopt stronger citizenship verification, voter ID requirements, and enforceable election deadlines.
"Election integrity is paramount to maintain our Republic," said Senator Bolick. "For years, voters have asked for reforms that protect their voice and restore confidence in the system. It's time we give them the chance to secure those protections permanently."
Recent polling from Center Square shows broad national support for voter ID requirements – evidence that Americans overwhelmingly want stronger standards that ensure only lawful voters participate in the process.
Over the past three legislative sessions, Senator Bolick has introduced legislation to ban foreign donations in Arizona elections and to bring "Florida-style" timely results to the state. SCR 1001 builds on those efforts and allows voters to decide the issue directly. If approved by the Arizona Legislature and passed by voters on the November 2026 ballot, SCR 1001 will secure Arizona's elections by:
Requiring documented proof of citizenship before a ballot is issued
Ending early voting at 7:00 p.m. on the Friday before the general election, ensuring clear and prompt processing
Requiring a government-issued ID for both in-person and early-ballot voting
"SCR 1001 will put voters – not bureaucrats, not activists, and not foreign interests – back in charge of how our elections are run. When we raise the standards, we protect the integrity of every lawful vote."
SCR 1001 will be considered during the next legislative session. Opening Day is January 12, 2026.
