Senate Republicans Pass Charlie Kirk Highway Designation and Specialty License Plate

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Arizona Senate Republicans are advancing two significant legislative measures to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk. These initiatives include designating a highway loop in his name and creating a special memorial license plate to celebrate his contributions to civic engagement and free speech. By advancing these initiatives, Senate Republicans are carrying forward the mission Charlie lived for: not merely building an organization, but strengthening a culture rooted in faith, liberty, and the timeless values upon which this nation was founded.

SB 1010, sponsored by Senate President Warren Petersen, formally designates Loop 202 as the Charlie Kirk Loop 202. The bill requires the designation to be reflected in official state records, documentation, and roadway signage. Loop 202 spans approximately 77 miles across the Phoenix metropolitan area, connecting to I-10 at both ends, and serves as a major transportation corridor. SB 1010 directs the Arizona Department of Transportation to install appropriate signage reflecting the designation, specifies that it does not supersede any existing designations, and is not expected to have any fiscal impact on the state's general fund.

SB 1439, sponsored by Senator Jake Hoffman, establishes a Charlie Kirk memorial specialty license plate, giving everyday Arizonans a simple way to support the philanthropic organization Charlie built. Funds generated by the plate will be used to educate and equip, especially students on high school and college campuses, to think for themselves, reject indoctrination, and boldly stand for patriotism, life, liberty, family, and civic responsibility. Designed to sustain itself, the program ensures that Charlie's vision is not symbolic, but active, practical, and growing stronger with each passing day.

"Charlie devoted his life to public discourse and political participation," said President Petersen. "He believed Americans could disagree and still engage one another civilly and respectfully. He encouraged people, especially young people, to get involved in civic life and help shape the future of their communities. Designating Loop 202 ensures his contribution to civic engagement and public participation won't be forgotten. Let this name stand as a daily reminder of the importance of promoting American ideals."

"These bills exist because Charlie intentionally built something far bigger than himself," said Senator Hoffman. "The world will never truly understand the magnitude of the loss we suffered, but Charlie's legacy was never meant to end with his life. He fought tirelessly for the soul of America and inspired tens of millions to stand boldly for truth, faith, and freedom. His voice was not silenced—it was multiplied. His legacy lives on, his voice is stronger than ever, and today we recognize that we are now the movement he began. This legislation turns his sacrifice into action and ensures that the mission God placed on his heart continues to grow. Thanks to Charlie, America is being called back to its rightful place—a shining city upon a hill, fortified by conviction, faith, and courage."
