Senator Jake Hoffman Named as Chairman of Committee on Director Nominations

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— I'm honored to be serving as Chairman of the Committee on Director Nominations. As Chairman, I'm committed to a thorough review of nominations pursuant to the statutorily required check on executive authority (38-211).

Agency directors have a tremendous responsibility to administer necessary government functions as directed by state law, without attempting to legislate from the executive branch or expanding the reach of big government. The Senate Confirmation process is a vital and necessary process to ensure that Director nominees will faithfully execute the laws of the state of Arizona, free from partisan political agendas and outside influence, and that their objectives align with our constituents' priorities— protecting public health, safety and welfare under the least restrictive method of regulation (41-3502).

Under Arizona's Right to Earn a Living Act, agencies are required to limit regulations to only those absolutely necessary to fulfill a public health, safety or welfare concern. The Committee on Director Nominations will thoroughly and objectively evaluate Katie Hobbs' nominees for their commitment to execute Arizona laws, rather than create new public policies in conflict with constitutional separation of powers.

The Committee looks forward to reviewing nominees based on their qualifications, experience and vision for Arizonans.
