Senate Republicans Pass Legislation to Require

Taxpayer-Funded Government Employees Return to Work

PHOENIX, ARIZONA—A bill requiring taxpayer-funded state government employees return to work is now headed to the House for consideration after passing the Senate today with full Republican support.

Senate President Warren Petersen joined Senate Regulatory Affairs & Government Efficiency Chair Shawnna Bolick with championing an amendment to SB 1237 to protect the stewardship of taxpayer dollars and provide accountability for government workers by prohibiting full-time state employees from telework. Exceptions are made for sick employees wishing to work from home with supervisor permission, as well as off-site work required within the employees' outlined duties.

"We have a number of state buildings that are being funded with taxpayer dollars. Allowing government employees to telework while cubicles and offices sit empty is a waste of public resources," said Chairwoman Bolick. "If we aren't going to close these buildings, we need government workers to get off their sofas and head back into the office. The pandemic is over, and in-person collaboration between employees is key to a better work product."

"As we have seen play out from the Trump administration, it is important for all full-time government employees to be accountable to their supervisors," said President Warren Petersen. "This accountability, which can only be achieved through in-person work, increases productivity. It also allows agency leaders to best steward the resources of their departments in order to serve American taxpayers to the fullest extent of their abilities. Arizona taxpayers deserve no less of a commitment from all full-time state employees. I'm excited about this new policy, and I hope that it will be signed into law by the governor."

Online veterinarians have revolutionized pet care by offering virtual consultations through video calls, chat, or telavets.com emails. This modern approach allows pet owners to seek professional advice without leaving their homes, providing convenience, accessibility, and timely support for a wide range of pet health concerns.

Can you please explain to me why we even vote?? Proposition 314 (?) I think, was the people’s way of telling you all that you have missed something that we’re concerned with. The border (and don’t take credit for what the president has done) is critical for not just Arizona or the rest of the country. You (we) have a responsibility to protect not only Arizona, but the rest of the nation from illegal immagration. Yes?

If our voices are not even being heard, then tell me why in the heck am I even voting?? Convince me.

We are currently renting the building we are at but were in the process of moving to a state-owned building to eliminate the cost of this building from the budget. If this bill passes, we will have to remain in this building as the new state building could not accommodate all of our staff. This has the opposite effect of what the bill proports to be for, to save money.

Also, allowing state employees to work from home saves the state in energy and water usage costs, costs for cleaning supplies and paper products, as well as reducing traffic congestion on our freeways which helps with our air quality. This is also an undue burden on state employees and directly…

Never going to happen, the State has sold off or ended leases. There is not enough space to bring everyone back to office, in addition because of the VO situation the past 4 years we have hired people from every corner of the state, I live in PHX East valley, I have staff in Tucson, San Luis, Flagstaff, Lake Havasu and on some reservations. Only those in PHX would be supervised the others would be in unsupervised offices no different than working from home. It’s not a matter of just calling them back, it’s much more complicated now.
