FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Senate President Fann applauds funding for Tonto Creek Bridge
"I am so pleased to learn that the U.S. Department of Transportation has agreed to send a $21 million federal grant to build the Tonto Creek Bridge. In November of last year, three children died in flood waters when their family tried to cross the creek. Although many Arizonans first heard about the need for a bridge after this tragedy, Senator Sylvia Allen has been fighting for this bridge to be built for years, and it was a focus of her's in this most recent legislative session. I am grateful that her hope will become reality. District 6 Representative Walt Blackman also worked hard to make this happen, in addition to District 8 Senator Frank Pratt and Representatives T.J. Shope and David Cook.
I am also thankful for the work U.S. Senator Martha McSally has done with her many conversations with Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. Senator McSally has worked hard for Arizona to receive the funding which will save lives. All of us worked together, and soon that part of Arizona will be a safer place when the flood waters run."
