Hobbs is Playing Political Games at the Expense of Arizonans

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Senator Jake Hoffman unequivocally condemns Katie Hobbs' refusal to submit state agency director nominations for Senate confirmation, forcing these agencies to operate illegally. The Senate has worked diligently behind the scenes to try to persuade the Governor to reengage in the Senate confirmation process, as she is required to do under Arizona law.  Unfortunately, she has declined to do so.  These are critical state agencies tasked with overseeing lives and livelihoods of our citizens. Individuals who are not properly vetted or even qualified to serve in these roles as directors creates the very real risk of endangering Arizonans, and subjects the agencies' actions to legal challenge.

"Katie Hobbs has demonstrated a childish refusal to work with anyone not in the far-left political spectrum, and a total disdain for following the law," said Senator Hoffman. "Her decision to grind Arizona to an operational standstill rather than follow Arizona law is possibly the saddest commentary on Democrats' seriousness yet."

"She's made it abundantly clear to voters that Democrats care more about playing petulant political games and throwing temper tantrums than actually governing. Republicans, on the other hand, are committed to creating a government that works for every Arizonan."

This week, Senate Republicans filed a Special Action Complaint against Governor Hobbs regarding this matter.
