FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Arizona Senate mourns the passing of Rep. Doris Goodale
"We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Representative Doris Goodale. We remember her as a fierce advocate for public education, a strong voice for her district and rural Arizona as well as a consensus builder who often worked with members across the aisle. During her six years at the House of Representatives, she made a tremendous impact on her colleagues and staff and the entire capitol community. Her positive spirit and pure grit to serve her constituents in Mohave and La Paz county earned her the respect of all who worked with her.
Her career in public service spanned over 30 years. In her professional life, Representative Goodale served admirably in the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department and county probation department. Her passion to improve public education began as a long-time member of the Kingman Unified School District Governing Board. As chair of the House Education Committee, she took on the challenging issues affecting our public schools during the worst economic crisis of our state’s history. While she advocated for a stronger K-12 system, she was an equal champion on behalf our public universities and community colleges.
As an Arizona native, Representative Goodale’s life exemplifies the true spirit of public service. Despite her failing health toward the end of her legislative career, she persevered and completed her term of office. The legacy of her commitment to serving the people of her district and the entire state will not be easily forgotten."
