Senator Kate Brophy McGee is being honored by an international early childhood development organization for her work improving the lives of families in Arizona.

Parents as Teachers presented Senator Brophy McGee with the coveted Jack Tweedie Human Services and Early Learning Award at its 16th Annual International Conference in Phoenix on Monday.

“It is our honor to recognize Senator Brophy-McGee with the Jack Tweedie Human Service and Early Learning Award. She has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of children and families in Arizona—she’s an agent of change. We’re grateful for her dedication and for sponsoring landmark legislation that created Arizona’s Department of Child Safety,” said Constance Gully, President and CEO of Parents as Teachers National Center Inc.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a non-profit, internationally-recognized leader in the early childhood development home visiting field, headquartered in St. Louis. Its annual conferences gather leading educators, policy-makers, child advocacy groups, and world-class experts in the fields of early learning, parenting education and professional development.

PAT also recognized Senator Brophy McGee for her leadership in getting legislative renewal of Prop 301, extending the sales tax rate to make sure more money is going to schools.
