Senator Kimberly Yee will speak today at the 71st Session of the American Legion Auxiliary Arizona Girls State Conference. Senator Yee was a Girls State delegate when she was attending Greenway High School in Phoenix.
Girls State is a government-in-action learning program, guiding young women to become knowledgeable stewards of freedom and democracy. Each summer, approximately 16,000 young women participate in Girls State programs across the country.
Senator Yee, who is Majority Leader of the Arizona State Senate, will discuss the role of the Executive Branch in State Government, and how it interacts with the Legislative and Judicial Branches.
The Girls State Conference is being held all week on the University of Arizona campus. Senator Yee will speak at 1:30 p.m. today at the Park Student Union.
