"My Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) legislation allows parents to choose the best education for their children. Opponents don’t want parents to have a choice and care more about keeping the money in the district than allowing it to follow the student. What are they afraid of? If a district school is doing a good job, parents will choose to keep their children in the district school, but if a student is stuck in a failing school, parents should have the choice to move them out. It is not surprising that district schools don’t want to lose money through competition. I support the parent’s right to choose the best education for their children. Opponents don’t want parents to have that choice."
