Arizona Supreme Court decision

The Supreme Court took jurisdiction, but denied relief to the governor. The Legislature is not required to transmit the bills immediately, but will transmit no later than June 30.

The following is a joint statement from President Burns and Speaker Adams, “From the beginning, we have said these bills will be transmitted in this session. We are pleased the court will not intervene in the present situation and we will continue to work with the governor to reach consensus on a budget.”

The court also set a precedent that the Legislature cannot delay transmission of bills to the governor in the future beyond time for ministerial duties.
